Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a newly-added overall value of EBAA. The first program from EBAA’s DEI Committee, this workshop gives participants a broad understanding of what DEI is, how it impacts individuals and organizations, and why it’s important to EBAA as an association.
Unconscious bias, also known as implicit bias, refers to the subconscious, preconscious, and automatic assumptions, attitudes, or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions. Often, bias is the brain’s way of taking shortcuts to collect and process information. Everyone has bias; the key is understanding what you can do to mitigate its impact.
Susie Silver from our partner The Diversity Movement will lead a live, facilitator-guided skills-based training, focused on understanding and mitigating unconscious bias. Susie will walk us through the definition of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), what unconscious bias is, how to recognize it in our own thinking, the impact it can have in the workplace, and what we can do to mitigate its effects. This event will be conducted virtually.
This training is designed to be a safe space for individuals to learn and grow without judgement. It is an ideal session for all eye bank employees regardless of role. Kick off your DEI journey with this enlightening training!
