Stacey B. Lee is a Professor of Law and Ethics at Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School, with a joint appointment at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. An award-winning author and nationally recognized expert in healthcare negotiations, she has trained thousands of physicians, administrators, and health leaders in applying effective negotiation strategies to improve outcomes for patients, providers, and organizations.

 

Her groundbreaking HEAR™ (Healthcare-specific Empowerment, Acknowledgment, and Recasting) framework is transforming how healthcare professionals navigate complex and often emotional negotiations. She is the author of Transforming Healthcare Through Negotiations (Routledge, 2025) and A Practical Field Guide to Healthcare Negotiation (2025), which debuted as the #1 New Release in its Amazon category.

Before entering academia, Stacey practiced law for over a decade as a securities litigator and later served as in-house counsel for two of the nation’s largest healthcare corporations. She also served as a senior regulatory specialist for the country’s largest healthcare trade association. Today, she continues her applied work as CEO of Praxis Pacisci, a negotiation training institute, and as a court-appointed mediator.
