Ocular Tissue Evaluation: Practical Approaches and Advanced Techniques

Includes a Live Web Event on 01/15/2026 at 2:00 PM (EST)

Corneal tissue evaluation is essential to ensuring safe, healthy, and high-quality tissue for transplant. This session provides a practical yet advanced overview of evaluation methods, beginning with the fundamentals and extending into newer imaging technologies and practices. Speakers provide eye banking and physician perspectives as they review traditional approaches such as slit lamp biomicroscopy and specular microscopy, and highlight advanced modalities including optical coherence tomography (OCT) and ex vivo wide-field dual imaging. Participants will learn how these tools are applied in real-world settings to distinguish normal from diseased tissue and to navigate complex or challenging cases. Through interactive case studies, attendees will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge as they review images and determine whether or not tissue is suitable for transplant and if it should be processed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to use traditional and advanced imaging methods to assess corneal tissue normal
  • Identify common and rare findings in each layer of the cornea
  • Apply knowledge to make scenario-based decisions
  • Gain insights on how to navigate challenging cases
  • Understand the eye banker and physician perspectives on tissue evaluation

Attend this session to strengthen your knowledge on ocular tissue evaluation!
