Join us for a dashboard showcase with lots of time for Q&A on PowerBI and Tableau.

At the Annual Meeting, the "All About the Data" panel looked at several ways to present eye bank data, including Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and iTransplant. This interactive webinar picks up where that conversation ended and goes deeper into two of those tools: Power BI and Tableau.

After a short introduction, attendees will choose a breakout room for either Power BI or Tableau and see how dashboards are built and maintained. You'll hear from two perspectives: the end users who rely on dashboards to make day-to-day decisions, and the data analysts who design, build, and update them. Bring your questions. The breakout format leaves plenty of time for discussion.

This session is a good one to share with your IT staff as well as your technical staff. Whether you're thinking about adopting one of these tools or trying to get more out of the one you already use, you'll leave with practical ideas for turning your eye bank's data into clear, useful dashboards.

Who should attend: eye bank IT staff, data analysts, technical staff, quality and operations managers, and anyone who uses or produces data reports.

Learning objectives: by the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Describe how Power BI and Tableau can be used to show eye bank data.
    2. Explain the key steps involved in building and maintaining a dashboard.
    3. Identify how end users and data analysts work together to make dashboards effective.

The Quality Assurance Seminar is a virtual course covering the quality system behind every eye bank — how it is built, how it is monitored, and how it holds up when someone from outside comes to check.

The Quality Assurance Seminar is a virtual course covering the quality system behind every eye bank — how it is built, how it is monitored, and how it holds up when someone from outside comes to check.

This hybrid course pairs on-demand lessons with a live virtual workshop on Zoom, and registration includes both. The on-demand lessons work through the core elements of an eye bank quality program one at a time and then live workshop puts it to work with interactive case studies and discussions.

This course is intended for anyone whose work touches quality. That includes staff stepping into a QA role for the first time, technicians and supervisors who carry QA responsibilities alongside other duties, and experienced QA professionals who want a structured refresher. No prior quality training is assumed. New to EBAA or to eye banking? An optional orientation section gets you up to speed first.

    Course Schedule

    October 23 — On-Demand Lessons Released

    November 13 — Live Virtual Workshop (1:00 pm – 3:15 pm ET)

    The course includes:

    • Interactive on-demand QA modules with built-in knowledge checks and quizzes
    • A course introduction [and an Introduction to Quality Assurance]
    • Optional orientation lessons for those new to EBAA and eye banking
    • Optional sessions on EBAA accreditation and certification exam
    • One live 2-hour-15-minute virtual workshop
    • One-year access to the course presentations and materials
    • A certificate upon course completion

Live Virtual Workshop — November 13

A 2-hour-15-minute Zoom session that is almost entirely application. It opens with a quick poll on what "quality" actually means, then turns to a panel of QA experts taking the questions attendees have submitted anonymously in advance — the things people are afraid to ask QA. Attendees then work through two case studies in small breakout groups. The session closes with "Hot Topics: Fight Club for Quality," in which the panel debates deliberately provocative statements about quality practice, and a final commitment: one thing you will change on Monday.

Join members of Rocketkoi, the team behind EBAA's website, for a look into ways to make your website work better for you and your audience.

Your website is often the first place donor families, surgeons, hospital partners, recruits, and the public go to learn about your eye bank. But a site that's hard to navigate, full of jargon, or indistinguishable from everyone else's can lose those visitors in seconds. In this webinar, the Rocketkoi team will share practical, field-tested strategies for building a website that serves your visitors and your organization's goals.

Whether you're starting from scratch, planning a redesign, or just want to get more out of the site you have, you'll leave with concrete ideas you can put to work right away. The session covers three core areas:

    • Help visitors find what they're looking for. Structure navigation, menus, and page layouts around what your audiences need, so a surgeon looking for tissue request information and a donor family looking for support each get where they're going quickly.
    • Help visitors understand what they're seeing. Use clear language, visual hierarchy, and purposeful design to make complex information easy to scan and act on, including for people who are new to eye banking.
    • Show your unique value, authority, and expertise. Put your organization's impact, credibility, and story front and center so your site builds trust with partners, donors, and the community, and stands out in search results.

Move beyond traditional validation practices and learn how CSA is transforming software validation for regulated organizations. This session will show you how to focus on what matters most, partner effectively with vendors, and confidently validate AI-enabled quality systems without compromising compliance.

For many Quality teams, software validation has become synonymous with mountains of documentation and endless testing. Add AI features into the mix, and it's easy to see why validation can feel more complicated than ever.

But it doesn’t have to be.

In this session, we'll explore how Computer Software Assurance (CSA) is changing the way regulated organizations approach software validation. You'll learn how to replace excessive documentation with a streamlined, risk-based approach that keeps compliance front and center while cutting out unnecessary effort. We'll also discuss where software vendors can – and should – help lighten the validation workload, and how the same CSA principles can help you confidently validate AI-enabled software as these technologies become part of everyday quality operations.

    Attendees will learn how to:

    • Apply CSA principles to focus validation where it matters most.
    • Understand how vendors and customers can share responsibility for a more efficient validation process.
    • Approach AI-enabled software with a validation strategy that supports innovation without compromising compliance.

Register today to gain insight on both the clinical context and practical knowledge to adapt eye bank workflows to this evolving environment!

As donation after circulatory death (DCD) cases continue to rise, shifting the donor pool from an 80/20 to a near 60/40 split with brain death donation, normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) is becoming a standard part of the donor management landscape that eye banks need to understand. This webinar offers eye bank professionals a clear breakdown of brain death versus DCD, an explanation of NRP and its growing role in the organ donation community, and a focused look at how NRP affects ocular recovery timing, dispatch decisions, and OR coordination. Attendees will also hear emerging science on whether NRP perfusion reaches the corneas and what that could mean for tissue outcomes, leaving with both the clinical context and practical knowledge to adapt eye bank workflows to this evolving environment.

Participants will explore how cumulative exposure to trauma can influence mental health, relationships, and workplace dynamics, while also learning evidence-based techniques to build resilience and maintain professional effectiveness. Register Today!

Eye bank recovery technicians, call center staff, and many other roles within eye banks routinely work in environments that involve exposure to death, grief, and emotionally complex situations. While this work is deeply meaningful, repeated exposure can lead to vicarious trauma, an often-unrecognized occupational hazard that can impact emotional well-being, job performance, and long-term resilience.

While all eye bank professionals will benefit from this session, this interactive workshop is specifically designed to help supervisors or team leaders understand the nature of vicarious trauma, recognize its signs and symptoms in their staffs, and develop practical strategies to mitigate its effects. Empowering supervisors to take a more proactive role in recognizing issues and preventing burnout will make for a healthier and communicative staff. Participants will explore how cumulative exposure to trauma can influence mental health, relationships, and workplace dynamics, while also learning evidence-based techniques to build resilience and maintain professional effectiveness.

Through discussion, real-world scenarios, and skill-building exercises, this session creates space for reflection, normalization of experiences, and empowerment, supporting staff in sustaining both their well-being and their commitment to the mission of donation and transplantation.

    Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. Define vicarious trauma and distinguish it from burnout and compassion fatigue.

    2. Identify common signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma in themselves and colleagues, including emotional, cognitive, and behavioral indicators.

    3. Understand risk factors specific to ocular recovery work that may increase susceptibility to secondary trauma.

    4. Recognize the impact of cumulative exposure to trauma on personal well-being, job performance, and team dynamics.

    5. Apply practical coping strategies to reduce the effects of vicarious trauma, including grounding techniques, boundary setting, and self-care practices.

    6. Utilize peer and organizational support, including debriefing practices and available mental health resources.

    7. Develop a personalized resilience plan to support ongoing emotional health and sustainability in the workplace.

This is a 2-hour interactive workshop.
