Preparing corneal tissue for transplant has greatly evolved throughout the years. Once considered a role for corneal surgeons, tissue processing has primarily become an eye bank function for most corneal transplant procedures. This session will feature knowledgeable eye bank professionals from various organizations who will discuss corneal tissue preparation.
Attendees will learn:
- The tissue preparation procedures offered by eye banks
- Information about DSEK and DMEK tissue preparation
- The importance of post-processing tissue evaluation
- How to determine tissue suitability for each procedure

Pricing
For one fee of $50 (EBAA Member) or $150 (Non-Member), the entire organization may attend the webinar. After registration, a confirmation email will be sent with a discount code. The contact person who purchased the session should send the discount code to other staff members who may wish to attend the session. The discount code will allow staff to attend remotely for free.
Note: if an organization has multiple locations, additional registrations must be purchased for each location.
CEU Information
A new CEU process has been implemented. If an individual views the session through their own eyeLEARN account, they simply need to complete the survey on their account to claim credit for the session. If a group of people view the session together in a conference room, then each person should complete the survey listed in the confirmation email to claim CEU credit.
Important: Whether through eyeLEARN or the survey in the confirmation email, each attendee must complete their own survey to claim credit for the session.

Promoting Donation Together: Updates from the Donation Community
Contains 2 Component(s)This complimentary session features representatives from Donate Life America, the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation, and the Division of Transplantation at the Health Resources and Services Administration who will share updates, resources, and details regarding their current campaigns and initiatives.
The eye, tissue and organ donation community consists of many unique organizations specializing in specific aspects of donation and transplantation. Many of these organizations offer materials, resources, and templates to the overall community to help each other promote eye, tissue and organ donation. This complimentary session will feature representatives from Donate Life America, the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation, and the Division of Transplantation at the Health Resources and Services Administration who will share updates, resources, and details regarding their current campaigns and initiatives.

Lauren Darensbourg
HRSA Division of Transplantation
Lauren Darensbourg serves as Lead of the Donation Education Team in the Division of Transplantation at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, Lauren develops and coordinates public and professional education and outreach activities in support of HRSA’s mission to improve awareness about organ donation and transplantation, and to promote the need for increased donor registrations. Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry, as well as a Master of Public Health from Florida A & M University.
Marion Shuck MA, MPhil
AMAT
Marion L. Shuck is Vice President of Governmental and External Relations at Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, as well as serving as the President of, the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantations. In both roles, Marion specializes in building key partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with communities, business leaders, legislators, hospitals, faith-based organizations, and industry partners. Her most important role is advocating for donor families and marginalized communities, while increasing opportunities for organ and tissue donation through education and outreach.
Karen Headley
Donate Life America
Karen Headley joined the Donate Life America (DLA) staff in December 2012 to develop and manage its fundraising and partnership efforts. As Vice President of Partnerships & Philanthropy, she continues to build DLA’s fundraising program and establishes key partnerships to further the Donate Life mission. Karen possesses more than 24 years of experience in non-profit management, fundraising, corporate sponsorship and volunteer development. Prior to joining DLA, she served for more than ten years in varying leadership roles at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and worked for Ogilvy Public Relations in their health and medical practice. Karen began her career in the non-profit sector working for the American Cancer Society. She is from Richmond, VA, and received her bachelor's in science from The University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. Karen currently lives in Richmond and serves on many community boards, she loves to cook, travel, enjoys live music and spending time with family, friends and her rescue dog Louie.
